Chapter 1
The citizens of Coruscant went about their daily routines. In the Jedi temple, Jedi knight Fox McCloud practiced with his lightsaber. The shining sapphire blade swept through the air with a hum.
"Very good, Fox," a voice said from the other side of the room.
The voice belonged to Fox's mentor, Jedi master Peppy Hare. He was famed throughout the temple for his lightsaber and Force skills. He had also been a friend of Fox's father, Jedi knight James McCloud. As he watched Fox practice, Peppy remembered how James had violated the Jedi code by marrying a fellow Jedi named Vixy Reinard. It was a memory that made him shudder, for he felt Fox would soon start down the same path. He had good reason to think this, for Fox had already forged a close friendship with a fellow Jedi named Krystal, a master of Jedi battle meditation. At the moment, it was only friendship, but Peppy knew from experience that it could very well become something more if his young friend and student wasn't careful. Peppy got up from his seat.
"Fox, can I have a talk with you?" he asked.
Fox shut off his lightsaber and looked at Peppy.
"Yes, master?" Fox answered.
"I want to have a talk with you about an important matter," Peppy continued.
Fox and Peppy took a walk through the halls of the Jedi temple.
"What is it, master?" Fox asked.
"It's about your relationship with Krystal," Peppy replied.
"What about it?"
"You know that romances are against the Jedi code, right?" Peppy said.
"Master, my relationship with Krystal is only a friendship. Nothing more," Fox replied.
"And that's what worries me. Your mother and father were just friends, and look what happened to them,"
Fox thought about his parents. Both were dead, Vixy Reinard by a Sith war droid's blasters and James McCloud from a space battle.
"And this applies to me and Krystal how?" Fox asked.
Peppy sighed.
"It applies in every way," Peppy answered.
Fox looked as if he didn't understand.
"Just be careful," Peppy said as he walked away.
Fox walked off. As he did so, he thought on Peppy's words. He headed towards Krystal's room, towards a life-changing moment in his life. When he entered, he saw the beautiful blue vixen sitting cross-legged on the floor, cyan eyes closed. She was deep in meditation. Her lightsaber, which gleamed a bright purple when activated, sat on a nearby table. He watched her for a second before turning to leave. However, before he could exit, he heard her voice.
"Fox?"
He turned around.
"Yes?" he asked.
"What's going on?" she responded.
"Uh..." was all Fox could manage.
Krystal giggled. They talked for a bit. As they did so, Fox realized that he in fact did have feelings for Krystal. He got a bit closer to her. Krystal felt a feeling inside of her. It was a strange feeling. A feeling like...love. She had never felt anything like it. No matter how much she tried to tell herself that it was against the Jedi code, she couldn't resist. She loved Fox like he loved her.
"Fox?" she said.
"What?"
"Can you keep a secret?"
"What secret?" he asked with eager anticipation of her next words.
"The secret of my newfound feelings for you," she answered, her heart beating faster than normal.
Fox was shocked and pleased at the same time. In that moment, without a second thought, he kissed her. The moment seemed to last forever, until Peppy walked into the room and saw them. Fox looked at the old hare with wide eyes. Peppy's expression was one of disapproval.
"Uh, I can explain," Fox said, his eyes glancing back and forth nervously.

Chapter 2
"Uh-huh. Fox, may I talk with you?" Peppy said.
Fox left with his mentor. They walked about half-way down the hall.
"Fox, what is the matter with you?! You just violated the Jedi code!" Peppy exclaimed.
"So?" Fox replied.
"So? You know full well that you and Krystal weren't supposed to do that, and yet, you kissed her," Peppy answered.
"Look, I believe the Jedi code is somewhat outdated. Some of its teachings are good, but the one against love is just stupid. My father had the right idea when he married my mother," Fox said.
"You're speaking heresy, Fox," Peppy told him.
"And I'm not done yet. I think it's time I followed in my father's footsteps," Fox continued.
Peppy looked very displeased.
"You're lucky I don't go and tell the Jedi council about this," the hare said.
Fox looked at his mentor.
"Master, I'm not a padawan anymore. I should be allowed to choose my own path," Fox replied.
"That is true, but it must be a path that follows the code you've been committed to since your birth,"
Fox sighed and walked away. In his heart, a powerful emotion, anger, burned. It burned as hot as the twin suns of the planet Tatooine. However, knowing that anger could be dangerous, he quickly calmed himself by reciting the first line of the Jedi code in his mind.
"There is no emotion, there is peace,"
He said it a couple more times before arriving back at his room. He entered. He looked at his bedside table. On it was a picture of his parents. They had been very well-known Jedi, but got in serious trouble with the council when they fell in love and decided to marry. Fox sighed.
"Why can't I just be allowed to love Krystal? It's not like I'm joining the Sith or anything," he silently asked himself.
Fox looked out of his window upon the city that was Coruscant, the capital city of the Galactic Republic. The airspeeders passed by in an unending stream. Just then, he heard a voice. Krystal's voice.
"Fox?"
Fox turned around. The sight of the beautiful vixen caused him to become speechless for several seconds. Then, he went back to normal.
"What do you want?" he asked.
"What happened with you and Master Peppy?"
"He basically told me off," Fox answered.
"And then?"
Fox continued. Some time later, Peppy showed up again. He sighed.
"How did I know that you two would be together again? Anyway, you're both wanted by the council," Peppy said.
Fox and Krystal obeyed and followed Peppy to the council chamber. The masters welcomed them, then cut right to the chase.
"There's been reports that the Sith have taken over the planet Taris. The Republic military is planning an excursion to go and take it back," one of the twelve masters said.
"Is Darth Raan involved?" Krystal asked.
"Yes. The Force has revealed this to us," another master said.
"So, you want the three of us to go and help them?" Peppy asked.
"Not three. You'll be taking someone else with you," yet another master replied.
"Who?" asked Fox.
At that moment, the door opened, revealing Jedi padawan Slippy Toad.
"Oh great," Fox said a little too loudly.
Krystal nudged him. Slippy was known for his annoyingly high voice.
"What's happening?" Slippy asked.
"Apparently, we have to help the Republic save a planet," Fox answered.
After the briefing was over, they headed for an airspeeder that would take them to the Republic military base. When they arrived, they saw the ship that would take them to Taris, the Endar Spire. It was a massive vessel, and it was being loaded up. Fox, Krystal, Peppy and Slippy entered and settled in their bunk. Once loading was complete, the Endar Spire took off into space, ready for its mission.

Chapter 3
The Endar Spire drifted through space. The trip out of the galactic core was a long one, so the team hung out in their bunk and discussed the mission.
"What's Taris like?" Slippy asked.
"It's very much like Coruscant. There's super-high buildings where the rich live, a gang-ridden lower city, and a disease-ridden undercity where criminals are sent," Krystal answered.
"It was once said to rival Coruscant. However, that was a long time ago. The planet's fallen into ruin and disrepair," Fox added.
As they talked, Peppy appeared to have something on his mind.
"Master Peppy, what is it?" Krystal asked.
Peppy looked up at the young vixen.
"It doesn't make sense. Why would the Sith want Taris? It's not a member of the Republic, and it hasn't contributed anything to galactic society," Peppy said.
"Wait a minute. Do you think they could've taken it because it's not part of the Republic?" Fox asked.
"Fox, what do you mean?" Peppy said.
"Because Taris is located far from the galactic core, away from the senate's jurisdiction, they knew that they could carry out a sucessful invasion," Fox replied.
"Well, that makes sense to me," Krystal said.
The rest of the trip to the Taris system was spent discussing this issue. Other than that discussion, the trip was uneventful. However, when they got there, it was a different story. The ship was spotted by the Sith, who promptly swarmed the ship and invaded it. Fox and the others heard the warning alarm go off. The door to their bunk opened. A husky dog in Republic uniform came running in.
"Come on! We've got to escape!" the husky exclaimed.
"Who are you?" Fox asked.
"My name is Zach Heston. Now, let's go!" the husky answered.
Zach opened the door that led into the hallway. Just as the group got there, a voice came over the intercom.
"This is Falco Lombardi. The Sith are about to overrun our positions. All hands to the bridge!"
"That was Falco contacting us. He's one of the Republic's best pilots. If he says things are bad, you better believe it! Now, come on!" Zach said as he took off.
It wasn't long before the group ran into squads of Sith troopers. Fox, Krystal, Peppy and Slippy ignited their respective blue, purple, green and yellow blades. Each of them had a different fighting style that they put to use. Fox's style was strong, swift and powerful, Krystal's was elegant and graceful, Peppy's was swift and powerful, and Slippy's was simple and elegant. Each style cut down troopers like they were nothing. After more fighting, they reached a room with a large closed door. Zach opened the door. Behind was a chameleon wearing black Sith robes and wielding a red double-bladed lightsaber. Zach pulled a long, machete-like sword.
"Keep going and get to the bridge! I'll take care of this!" Zach said.
"No, we can take him," Krystal replied.
Zach just sent them away. The chameleon, the Sith apprentice Darth Trucidus, struck the husky down without mercy. Fox, Krystal, Peppy and Slippy continued to fight their way to the bridge. When they got there, no one was present. Everyone was dead. Just then, Falco's voice came over the intercom again.
"You're the last surviving crew aboard the ship. Meet me in the escape pod room,"
Fox and the others did just that. After striking down a final squad of troopers, they made it.
"You made it just in time. Come on, let's get into the escape pod. There will be time for questions later," said Falco.
Fox and his friends followed Falco into the pod. Luckily, it was just big enough for all of them. Falco launched the pod, and it zoomed towards the planet Taris. The pod entered the planet's atmosphere and crashed in the upper city. It was a rough impact, and Fox was knocked out. With Peppy using the Force to cloak their presence from the many Sith patrols, they dragged an unconscious Fox to an abandoned apartment, where they layed him on a bed and waited for him to wake up. Krystal checked her love's body for injuries and found none, save for a bump on the head. She was thankful for that. Meanwhile, Falco scouted the area and found that not only had the Sith invaded this world, but they had also blockaded the planet, declared martial law, and forbidden anyone to come or go. This would be a difficult adventure indeed.

Chapter 4
Sometime later, Fox woke up. He sat up, rubbed his head and looked around. He was in a strange building. He then saw Krystal, Peppy, Slippy and Falco looking at him.
"What happened?" he groaned.
Falco was the first to answer.
"We escaped the Endar Spire in an escape pod just before it blew up. The escape pod crashed on Taris. You were knocked out, and we had to drag you to this abandoned apartment," he said.
"Well, I guess we go and try to find a way off-world," Fox answered.
"I'm afraid that's going to be quite difficult, Fox," Peppy replied.
"What? Why?" Fox asked with a concerned look on his face.
"The Sith have blockaded the planet. No one can come or go," the old hare responded.
"That's really good. Now we're going to get caught and possibly executed," Falco said.
Krystal looked up at the pilot.
"Falco, you're going to have to trust Master Peppy's wisdom," she said.
Falco scoffed.
"Master Peppy is a great man," Krystal said.
"Yeah, great at getting us into trouble," Falco retorted.
Anger began to drift through Krystal. Her ears went back and her tail swished from side to side in an irritated manner.
"I didn't hear you give any good ideas," she told the pilot.
"Yeah, well, I need time to think," Falco responded.
"Just as I thought. You have no plan," Krystal said with a grin.
Falco was about to respond, but didn't.
Peppy got tired of the discussion.
"All right, this is going to stop right now. From here on out, we're a team. We have to work together if we want to get off Taris," the old hare said.
"Sorry, master," Krystal answered.
"Yeah, sorry," replied Falco.
Peppy took a step back.
"Now for our plan. On his scout trip, Falco discovered a guarded elevator to the lower city. I might be able to use a Jedi mind trick to allow us access," he told them.
"That's not a bad plan. It might just work," Fox said.
Slippy, however, was less convinced.
"Isn't the lower city full of gangs?" he asked.
"Yes, but I'm sure there isn't anything we can't handle," answered Fox.
Peppy sighed at his student's overconfidence, but restrained himself from saying anything. They left the apartment and headed towards the elevator. The Sith trooper stood on guard duty. Peppy went up to him.
"You there, Jedi, your kind isn't welcome here," the trooper said.
This didn't deter Peppy for a second. The Jedi master simply looked at the trooper and waved his hand slightly.
"You want to let us into the lower city,"
"I want to let you into the lower city," the trooper repeated.
The elevator was opened and everyone got in.
"Wow, that went better than I expected," Fox remarked.
The elevator continued on its way. Before long, the group was standing in the slums of the lower city, and it wasn't long before they were fighting for their lives against violent gang members. However, the battle didn't last long, and soon all the gangsters were dead. They walked on, talking amongst themselves as they went.
"What do we do now?" Krystal asked.
Just as Peppy was about to answer, a passerby, a young male fennec fox, came up and gave a suggestion.
“If you want help, you should see Joran Thek. He’s the leader of the Hidden Bek gang,” the fennec said.
“Just what we need. Association with gangs,” Falco said.
“No. I think he has a good idea,” Fox said.
“Where is his base?” asked Krystal.
“Just a few feet away from here,” the fennec answered before going on his way.
They went down to the base’s entrance. After a less-than-friendly talk with the guard, they were admitted inside. A leopard in gleaming silver armor stood at the far side of the room. Next to him was an attractive young female silver fox. They cautiously approached. Just then, the silver fox spoke up
“Hold it right there. Who are you and what is your business with Joran?” she asked.
“Calm down, Belle,” Joran said calmly.
“You’re too trusting, Joran. Brejik and his Vulkars want you dead, and it’s my job to make sure you’re safe,” Belle replied.
“Do you want us to start attacking strangers on sight, Belle? Like the Vulkars do? I will never let it come to that. Now, let them pass,” Joran said.
Belle did as instructed. Fox and the others walked forward.
“You’ll have to forgive Belle. Ever since Brejik and the Vulkars started this war against us, we’ve had trouble, and the problems with the Sith haven’t helped things. Now, what can I do for you?” Joran asked.
Peppy was the one who stopped forward. Even though Joran seemed friendly enough, the old hare was nervous. He, Fox, Krystal and Slippy were not in disguise. They were in their Jedi robes, with their lightsabers displayed prominently on their belts. As for Falco, he was wearing his Republic pilot’s uniform. It wouldn’t do them any good to get in trouble, so Peppy decided not to reveal the group’s actual plan.
“You see, our transport was caught up in a space battle with the Sith, and now we're stuck here. We know that other soldiers escaped, and now, we want to find the escape pods," Peppy said.
"The escape pods. They're in the undercity. In fact, I sent a spy to search them out yesterday. That's when everything went wrong," Joran answered.
"How so?" Krystal asked.
"The spy I sent, katt Monroe, was kidnapped by the Black Vulkars. I need help to find her. She has much valuable information," Joran replied.
"What's going to happen to her?" Slippy asked.
Joran hesitated for second. He sighed, then looked at Slippy, his yellow feline eyes showing a look of concern.
"They're going to sell her as a slave,"
"How can we help?" Fox asked.
"With all the information she has, she's way too valuable to stay with the scum at the base. She's hidden away somewhere safe," Joran continued.
"Then how can we help?" Fox asked.
"By entering the lower city swoop race," Belle replied.
"How do we do that?" Peppy asked.
"I'm willing to help you. However, first you'll have to do something for me," Joran said.
"What is it?" Fox asked.
"By sneaking into the Vulkar base and retrieving the prototype swoop bike engine the Vulkars stole from me," Joran answered.
"How do we get in?" Krystal asked.
"Getting in won't be easy. The front door is locked tight. You'll have to go in the back way, through the sewers in the undercity. Luckily, I know just the person to help you. Lily Conlin," Joran said.
"Lily? Joran, she's just a kid. How's she going to help them?" Belle asked.
"Lily knows the undercity better than anyone. If anyone's going to get the group into the base, it's her," Joran answered.
"Where can we find her?" Peppy asked.
"She and her bear friend Solomon are always looking for adventure. Look in the undercity," Joran said.
After finalizing the agreement, Fox and his group left. After using a mind trick on the Sith guard, the boarded the elevator to the lower city. When they got there, they found a dark, gloomy place that reeked of death. The animals they passed all had dirt caking their fur. Some had missing limbs and tails, while others had grotesque deformations resulting from disease. Krystal's heart went out to them. Being of a kind nature, she wished she could heal them. Through the Force, Fox felt his love's anguish.
"Come Krystal. We must accomplish our mission," he said. The journey through the outcast village continued until they reached the gate. Fox approached the gatekeeper.
“We need to get through,” he said.
The gatekeeper, a weasel, hesitated.
“I can’t open it. Not with the rakghouls so close,” the gatekeeper said.
“What are rakghouls?” Slippy asked in alarm.
This time, the gatekeeper didn’t hesitate to answer.
“They’re disease-carrying monster that live and breed here in the undercity and in the sewers. If they bite you, you’ll get infected with the disease and become one of them,”
“That doesn’t sound good!” Slippy exclaimed as he tried to run back towards the elevator.
Peppy reached out and pulled the young toad back. The hare’s head turned towards the gatekeeper.
“We can take care of ourselves. Now, please open the gate,” Peppy said gently but firmly.
The weasel hesitated for second, and then agreed.
“I’ll open the gate for a second. Then, you have to hurry so I can close it again,” he answered.
The crew did exactly that. The area beyond the gate looked little different than the area village. Fox and Krystal pulled their lightsabers from their belts, but did not activate them. Peppy and Slippy did the same, while Falco pulled his blaster. Suddenly, there was rustling in the dark shadows. Four saber blades activated. It was then that the rakghouls became visible. There were several of the hideous white beasts, all rushing for the group. Fox and his friends flew into action. The fight was difficult, but they won. Soon, there was only one left, and it just happened to be the most aggressive one. Before anyone could strike, however, a blaster shot rang out. The energy bolt struck the beast in the head, killing it. Krystal turned her head and saw another shadow in the dark. It was a lean, feminine figure. Krystal watched as the figure stepped forward, revealing itself. It was a pretty raccoon girl of about 15 years of age.
“This isn’t a good place to be standing around,” the raccoon said.
By now, the others had noticed her as well.
“Who are you?” Fox asked.
“My name’s Lily Conlin. What are you doing here?” she replied.
“What’s it to you, missy?” Falco replied.
“I may be young, but I know how to fire a blaster. And I know the dangers of the undercity,” Lily replied.
Fox then broke up the exchange. Afterward, he turned to Lily.
“We’re on business from Joran Thek,” he replied.
Lily couldn’t help but giggle a bit.
“What is it?” Falco asked impatiently.
“I can’t imagine four Jedi and a Republic pilot working for a swoop gang leader,” she answered.
Falco got irritated again.
“Look, missy. We’ve got to somehow break into the Black Vulkar base and retrieve a prototype swoop engine. Joran Thek said you could help us,” the avian said.
Lily smiled.
“I’ll help you, but you have to do something for me first,” the young raccoon said.
“Great. What is it?” Falco asked.
“Help me find my friend Solomon. Slavers kidnapped him,” Lily replied.
“Do you know where he is?” Peppy said.
“In the slaver camp in the sewer,” Lily replied.
Fox agreed to help her. After that, the group set off into the sewers. They fought their way through the rakghouls to a chamber full with several apes, the slavers themselves. They pulled blasters and vibroblades, but those were ineffective. The sound of humming lightsabers and firing blasters filled the air. Soon, however, the ape slavers were dead. Lily went over to a nearby door and opened it. From within the chamber emerged a large brown bear clad only in red straps that rested on his shoulders and waste. This was Lily’s friend Solomon. He growled, for this was the only language he was capable of speaking. The growl was soft and joyful-sounding.
“You’re a sight for sore eyes, Lily,”
Lily was happy as well.
“Nice to see you too, Solomon,” the raccoon girl replied.
Solomon then noticed Fox and the others.
“Who are they?” he asked.
“They’re my new friends,” Lily replied.
Fox stepped up to Solomon.
“Hello. My name is Fox McCloud,” he said.
Solomon was suddenly impressed at what he had just heard from the vulpine in front of him.
“You can speak the language of my people? I’m impressed. For freeing me, I can only think of one thing to do. Fox McCloud, I swear a life-debt to you,”
“You’re swearing a life-debt? Sol, are you sure?” Lily asked.
“Yes, Lily. It’s the only way I can repay Fox for what he’s done,” Solomon replied.
“I’m honored to accept this,” Fox said.
With the rescue finished, the group’s attention turned to the Vulkar base.
“Before we go, I want to warn you. There’s a huge rancor monster that makes its home by the base,” Lily said.
“Not another monster!” Slippy exclaimed.
“What’s with him?” Lily asked.
“Oh, certain things make him nervous,” Krystal answered.
“Come on. The monster’s not really an option. Let’s go,” Fox said.
Before they headed for the base entrance, Fox took the opportunity to collect several grenades from the dead slaver's lockbox. Afterward, Lily led them to the location of the base. As they got to the entrance, they noticed a severed arm on the ground.
"Ew" Lily said.
Krystal then noticed a datapad in the arm's hand. She bent to pick it up. Near it, she found several small vials.
"What does it say?" Peppy asked.
"It says that these vials contain the scent of the rancor's favorite prey. If we insert these, along with a grenade, the rancor will literally blow itself up," Krystal said.
"I'll go in," Fox declared.
"Be careful, Fox," Peppy warned.
"I will," the son of James and Vixy replied.
Fox then entered the chamber. Off in the distance, the rancor loomed. Fox found a pile of bones, and it was here that Fox set the trap. After setting up the vial and grenade, Fox went back to a safe distance. Just as planned, the rancor went over and ate. Suddenly, there was a massive explosion. Blood and remains of internal organs were everywhere. Once the beast was down, Fox led the group to the entrance. After fighting the two guards, they were inside. They had done it. They fought their way to the lower level found that the accelerator was guarded inside the engine lab. They opened the door, and were caught by the gang's second-in-command, a tiger named Kandon Ark. Kandon offered them a chance to betray Joran, but the offer was declined. Kandon was about give the order for his men to shoot the group, but it never came. In seconds, all Kandon saw was a blur of blue fur and purple energy coming at him. And then, he saw nothing at all. His head bounced as it hit the ground. Where the tiger had been standing moments before stood Krystal. The guards present looked terrified. They ran off. Krystal then proceeded to find the acclerator. Once they had it, the group triumphantly returned to Joran and Belle. Joran was more than happy.
"Good job. Now the race is tomorrow. One of you is going to take the swoop with this accelerator," Joran said.
"I'll do it," Fox said.
"Good," Joran replied.
The next morning, the gang went to the swoop track. The Vulkars and Beks were both there. In a corner cage was Katt Monroe herself, the prize for the winner. Fox signed himself as a racer for the Hidden Beks. His name was called, and it was his time to go. Just before he got into his swoop, Krystal came up.
"Be careful, my love," Krystal said.
"I will," Fox replied.
Krystal then gave Fox a kiss of encouragement. Then, without hesitation, Fox got in and took of. Within moments, he came to the finish line. He had beaten everyone else. He had won the race. Everyone cheered his name, especially Krystal. Then, the time for the prize came. A cougar walked out onto the platform. This was Brejik, leader of the Vulkars. However, instead of announcing the prize, he accused Fox of cheating, leading to a fight. Fox was victorious, however, and Brejik was killed. After that, Fox freed Katt from her cage. She was not happy.
"HOW DARE YOU THINK YOU COULD WIN ME AS A PRIZE?!" she screamed.
"My name is Fox McCloud. I'm working for Joran Thek," Fox said.
In that moment, the pink feline's anger subsided.
"Why didn't you say so before?" she asked.
"I was about to, but I wasn't given a chance," Fox replied.
Katt then noticed Falco.
"Hi there," she said flirtatiously
"Oh boy," Falco said.
"What's your name?" she asked.
Falco was about to answer when Peppy interrupted.
"I'm sorry to interrupt what is obviously a great conversation, but we have to get back to the hideout," the old Jedi master said.
They complied. The group then headed back to the upper city apartment with their new friends in tow. They then discussed what needed to be done next. All agreed that escaping the planet was the best course. They decided to try to find help in the cantina, and walked towards the door, not knowing that just outside was the answer.

Note: Due to time constraints, I ended this at Taris. Next chapter is Dantooine. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 5
Fox carefully opened the door of the apartment, and when he concluded that it was clear, he called his friends. Still, they exited cautiously. They hadn't been out for more than a few seconds when an iguana came running up to them.
"I'm looking for the winner of the lower city swoop race," he announced.
"That's me," Fox said.
"Good. I have a message for you from Soren Ordo," the iguana replied.
"Who?" Krystal asked.
"Soren Ordo, a mercenary working for crime boss Merick Kang," the messenger answered.
"We'll go to him now," Fox replied.
"Good choice. He's waiting in the lower city cantina," the messengers said before leaving.
When he was gone, Slippy spoke up.
"Merick Kang? Who's that?" Slippy asked.
Lily was the one who replied.
"He's a crocodile that runs all the criminal business. Murder, slave trading, spice trafficking, you name it, he's in it," the pretty raccoon replied.
"And Soren?" Slippy continued.
"Merick's enforcer. He's a jackal," Lily replied.
"All right. Let's go," Falco said.
"Hold on. I know all about Soren Ordo. He's dangerous. Can we trust him?'' Katt asked.
Peppy looked up.
"The Force tells me that his purposes are not nefarious. It tells me that through him, we will find a way offworld,"
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Falco exclaimed.
The group headed off to the elevator. As he had done earlier, Peppy used a mind trick to convince the guard to let them through. Once down, they headed straight for the cantina. Just as the messenger had said, the jackal named Soren Ordo was waiting for them. Soren set his eyes on Fox.
"So you're the one who won the big swoop race. Nice to meet you," he said.
"Yes, I'm the one," Fox replied.
"Good. I need someone like you for my plan," Soren answered.
"Exactly what is your plan?" asked Krystal.
"I've got a plan to escape Taris. However, I can't do it alone," Soren answered.
"How are you going to manage that?" Katt asked.
"Not so fast. First, you guys have to do something for me," the jackal mercenary replied.
"What?" Fox asked.
"I want you to break into the Sith base and get the launch codes," Soren said.
"Piece of cake!" Lily exclaimed.
"Hold on. This won't be easy. The security system on the base is heavily encrypted. It would take a top-of-the-line astromech droid to get through it," Soren said.
"Who would have a capable droid?" asked Fox.
"My boss, Merick Kang, was having a droid built," Soren replied.
"Won't he get mad if we take his droid?"
"He paid for it, but put me in charge of the code mission. He won't care," Soren said.
"Hmm, I hate to say it, but this seems like our only choice. We'll do it," Peppy said.
After one final comment, the crew left and headed for the upper city. When they got there, they headed for the droid shop. The shop was owned by a lone female squirrel. She was busy putting prices on some of the droids in her shop.
Fox looked around for a moment. In one corner, there was a small, white astromech with a "reserved" sticker on it. He called out for the squirrel.
"Hello there. How may I help you?" she asked.
Fox cut right to the chase.
"Soren Ordo said that you would sell me the white astromech,"
"Of course. That'll be 2,000 credits please," she said.
Fox smiled. As he handed over the credits, he thought back to how he had been saving up money since the team had arrived by getting wherever he could get it, be it from fallen enemies, selling enemy equipment and so on. He had managed to save upwards of 3,000 credits. It had been a good thing. Even though he now had only 1,000 credits, he knew the group would get more.
"Now, let's go get those codes," Falco said.
When they got to the Sith base, the new astromech, T3-M4, opened the door and the group entered. The trek through the base was anything but easy. They had to fight their way through war droids, Sith troopers and security systems. Finally, they faced down a massive guard droid in front of the elevator. When it was down, they unlocked the elevator. When they got to the lower level, they found themselves confronted by Andrew Oikonny, Sith governor of Taris. He was also a Sith apprentice.
"Who dares to break my meditation. You will pay for..."
He stopped in mid-sentence when he realized who was confronting him.
"Wait, some of you are Jedi. This meeting is a stroke of luck for me. My master surely reward me with my lightsaber once I kill you!" Oikonny exclaimed.
"Turn away from the dark side. It won't lead to anything except destruction," Krystal said.
Oikonny sneered.
"Spoken like a true drone of the Jedi council. We Sith have learned to embrace the dark side. It is what gives us strength!" he bellowed as he drew a metal sword from a sheath at his side.
With that, Oikonny attacked. Lily, Katt, Falco and Solomon were told to stay back while the Jedi took care of the problem. Fox, Krystal and Slippy kept him off-balance while Peppy swung his emerald saber blade into Oikonny's side. He groaned has the burning energy burned its way through fur, muscle and finally bone. The governer of Taris fell with a thud. Once he was dead, the crew started to search the boxes and the body itself. On Oikonny's body were the needed launch codes, and some extra credits. Then, without wasting any time, they escaped the base and headed for the cantina again. Soren was right there waiting for them.
"We have your codes," Fox said.
"Excellent. Now, follow me. I'll take you to Merick's base in my airspeeder. Here's what'll happen. I'll tell him you guys are curious about his operation. When he's done and leaves us alone, we sneak out and steal his ship," Soren replied.
Soren led Fox and his friends away. Meanwhile, up in space, aboard the Sith flagship, another event was taking place. Pigma Dengar, admiral of the Sith fleet, approached a shadowy figure clad in black robes. This was Darth Raan, Dark lord of the Sith. Once, he had been a Jedi knight named Wolf O'Donnell, and he had been one of the order's strongest apprentices. However, he was driven by anger, and sought out myster of the dark side. Then, one day, he had disappeared and returned as a Sith lord. His back was turned to everyone else on the bridge. On his right eye was a patch, the result of a severe injury received in a lightsaber duel. Through the dark side, he had sensed the Jedi's presence on the planet, and Pigma coming up behind him.
"Admiral Dengar, we cannot risk the Jedi escaping Taris. Destroy the entire planet," Raan said.
"The entire planet? What about our own men on the surface?" Pigma protested.
Raan snarled at his admiral. Pigma agreed to do the deed and left to get started. Back on Taris, Fox and friends arrived at Merick's mansion. The massive old crocodile looked at Soren with a curious stare.
"Interesting, Soren. You usually work alone," he said.
One of Merick's bounty hunters, a monitor lizard by the name of Kana Nord, stood by the croc's side.
"It's not like you to take on partners, Soren," he said.
Sensing an argument, Merick stepped in. He then proceeded to question Fox's group.
"What are you doing here?" the croc asked.
Krystal was the one who answered. Using her skill of Force persuasion, she told the group's story.
"We're curious about your operation," she said.
Merick and Kana bought the blue vixen's words. Fox and his group were given a tour. First, Merick showed them his ship. They viewed the large orange and white smuggling vessel, which was called the Ebon Hawk. After the tour was over, they were left alone, This was their time to strike. They fought their way through the base, got the Hawk's launch codes, disabled hangar security and finally made to their hangar, where the attack by Darth Raan's fleet was now obvious. Merick and Kana noticed Fox and the others.
"Look what we have here. Theives trying to steal my ship!" the croc exclaimed.
Kana offered to kill them, and a battle ensued. Falco ended it by throwing a frag grenade into the hangar roof's metal supports. The grenade exploded and sent a huge metal beam on top of the two reptilian fiends. With them down, everyone boarded the Ebon Hawk and they took off. Once outside, the damage done by the Sith was apparent. The entire city was destroyed. There was nothing that could be done but leave as fast as they could. Next stop: the agricultural world of Dantooine.

Chapter 6
Finally, the Ebon Hawk set down at the docking bay of the Dantooine Jedi academy. Before disembarking, everyone met in the center of the ship to discuss their next course of action.
"I'll go in and talk to them first," Peppy said.
"What about us?" asked Fox.
"Wait for me here. When they know the story, I'll come for you," the old hare replied as he turned to leave.
Everyone went about their own business. Krystal found Fox laying in one of the bunks. His face bore a disturbed expression.
"What's wrong?" Krystal asked.
Fox turned to look at her.
"Taris is gone," he replied.
"It was only the city, not the planet," Krystal answered.
"But still. All those people. Surely you felt their deaths through the Force," Fox said in response.
Krystal came over and embraced her love.
"Yes, I did, and I am deeply saddened. However, this event is a reminder of why the Sith must be stopped," she said.
Fox and Krystal were together for what seemed hours, although it was only about thirty minutes or so. Finally, Peppy returned.
"Everyone, my fellow masters know what transpired on Taris. They will know grant us rooms to stay in until we have a better idea of what we're going to do next," Peppy said.
Everyone left the Ebon Hawk and entered the academy. As he was walking, a female voice stopped him.
"Fox McCloud? Is that you?" it asked.
Fox turned to see a female fennec fox standing there. This was Fara Phoenix, one of the Jedi of the academy.
"Who are you?" Fox asked.
"My name is Fara. Fara Phoenix," she replied.
"Do you know me?" Fox responded.
"Only from the holonet. I know of your exploits against the Sith," Fara answered.
"Well, see you around," Fox said as he walked away and joined with Krystal again.
"Who was that?" Krystal asked.
"Oh, just someone who knew me from the holonet," Fox answered.
Everyone settled into their rooms. That night, as they slept, Fox and Krystal shared a dream. The dream showed Darth Raan and his apprentice when they were still Jedi. The two were entering one of the planet's many ancient ruins. They talked amongst themselves as they talked about something called the "Star Forge" and approached a glowing holomap. In the morning, they realized they had shared the dream through the Force. You see, when they shared that kiss back on Coruscant, they had forged a Force bond between themselves. This part they decided to keep secret. After breakfast, they went to inform the council, who decided that the ruins had to be explored. However, Fox first had to prove his devotion to the light side of the Force by going out and performing a task in the Jedi's sacred grove. Fox agreed and Krystal volunteered to go with him. Together, they traveled to the grove. There, kneeling between two pillars, was a female lynx. Suddenly, she stood up, gazing at Krystal in an angry manner. The vixen reached for her lightsaber but was too slow. The lynx freezed her in place with the Force. She then ignited a gleaming orange lightsaber. Fox ignited his blue blade and the duel was on. The sound of clashing energy blades filled the still Dantooine air until, suddenly, Fox Force-pushed her to the ground, her saber deactivating as it fell from her hand to the ground. Krystal was then released from statis and went to join Fox.
"Who are you?" she hissed.
"I'm Fox McCloud, and this is Krystal. Who are you?" Fox answered.
"I am Miyu. You have invaded my place!" she replied.
"Your place?" Krystal said.
"Yes. This is where I fled after I killed my master," Miyu answered.
"You slew you master?" asked Fox.
"Yes, in a moment of rage. I struck her with my blade. I wish to return to the Jedi, but I fear they won't accept me back," Miyu said sadly.
"They will. Go and show them you have freed yourself of anger," Krystal said.
"Do you really think they'll accept me?" Miyu responded hopefully.
"Your inner peace will prove it," Fox said.
"I thank you," Miyu replied as she retrieved her lightsaber.
And with that, Miyu headed for the academy. Fox and Krystal did as well. There they were congratulated and deemed worthy to venture in the ruins. As before, they journeyed to the old ruins. After fighting guard droids and solving two computer puzzles, Fox and Krystal found themselves standing before the holomap of the dream they shared. As they studied it, Fox noticed something.
"The map is incomplete," he said.
"Yes. This map is incomplete, but look at this. It points to several other planets: Kashyyyk, Tatooine, Korriban and Manaan. Those worlds probably have more clues," Krystal replied.
With the coordinates from the star map downloaded, Fox and Krystal returned to the academy. After being informed, the council decided that Fox and Krystal would journey to find the star map, and be joined by Peppy, Slippy, Lily, Solomon, Katt, Soren, T3 and Miyu. It was also decided that everyone would leave tomorrow morning, so all of the Ebon Hawk's left to rest up.
